The First Post.

This is the second time I have attempted to write a blog, the first failing miserably due to my spreading myself too thinly and not really knowing how to focus my thoughts. This time, however, I hope that it'll be different, for I have in this time found something which really gets me going: going to new places, meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. This is everyone's favourite hobby: "travel" (does anyone dislike going on holiday?!).

Visiting new places which are different to my own homeland has done wonders for me and my view of the world, beginning with a trip to Syria in 2009, the first time I had left Europe. Subsequently I was desperate to visit new places, with the effect of my wanderings being that I seek to offer my views, advice and also invite comment, for most people gain something unique from a trip (no matter how small or insignificant) which is often worth sharing.

As I write this, I am packing for my latest jaunt: a six-week trip to Vietnam, a country around which I shall travel by motorcycle. This will be my second visit to this country, for I was there in September, though I anticipate a rather different experience to last time. Expect there to be regular posts, videos and photographs from the journey, as well as my thoughts on current affairs and reminiscences about travels past.

  3. Hi, Joseph. When do you arrive? I will be there on Tuesday and am looking to stay for two nights, leaving for Mai Chau on Thursday. Let me know your plans; you may always be able to catch up with me somewhere else if not in Hanoi!
